
Dr. Tomiko Smalls visited Ms. Bradshaw's Creative Writing class to provide scholarship application tips. She used reflective journaling as a warm-up activity and presented an unedited response to the prompt so that the students could offer suggestions and corrections. Thanks to both of these ladies for helping our students feel more confident about applying for scholarships!


Congratulations to Markese Stevens for being nominated for the 2025 Bridge Builder Excellence Award. This award recognizes high school student-athletes who excel on the field, in the classroom and within their community.

Students in Mrs. Beard's classes enjoyed one-on-one time with SC Works employees learning how to make sure their resumes are ready to get them a job.







Guest speaker, Shelby Reed, gave valuable information to Mrs. Beard's students. The presentation was Getting the Job 101. Thank you Mrs. Beard for having Mrs. Reed speak to your students.

There will be a parent's meeting on Tuesday (2-25-25) in the MMS gym at 5 pm for all parents of student-athletes who are participating in Spring sports.

Congratulations to the Chiefs for advancing to the 2nd round of the SCHSL playoffs. The Chiefs will host CA Johnson High School on Wednesday (2-19-25) at 6 pm. Admission will be $8 and only SCHSL passes will be accepted.

The guys will host Horse Creek Academy on Monday (2-17-25) at 7 pm and the Lady Chiefs will travel to Hunter Kinard Tyler on Tuesday (2-18-25) at 7 pm. Admission will be $8 and only SCHSL passes will be accepted.

On Wednesday, 2/5, Jakeya traveled with the First Steps staff to Myrtle Beach to attend the 70th South Carolina Early Childhood Association conference: Leading Little Learners. Over 1300 early childhood professionals attended this conference, and Jakeya attended sessions on:

The McCormick High chapter of SkillsUSA has the opportunity today, to advocate and express their interest in meeting with the legislators to discuss Career and Technical Education (CTE) and SkillsUSA. Engaging with their local legislators is an excellent way to advocate for SkillsUSA, school, and Broadcasting program. Great job Chiefs!

The JV basketball game vs. Abbeville that is scheduled on Saturday (2-8-25) will now start at 5:30 pm. Varsity games will follow the JV game and the games will take place at Erskine College.
