Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians/Students. This is Gena K. Wideman, your high school principal. First, parents/guardians, as we are approaching the end of the 3rd quarter, check your child’s grades and attendance. This is very important. We want to make sure all students stay on track throughout the remainder of the year. Intercession will begin March 17. Your child will be able to receive enrichment, remediation, and/or seat time. Secondly, as we progress towards graduation, there will be a senior parent/student meeting on Thursday, March 13, 2025 @ 5:30pm. We will meet in the high school media center. Lastly, we will have parent/teacher conferences on March 13 from 3:30pm – 7:00pm and Friday, March 14 from 8:00am – 12:00pm. We trust you will come out and talk with your child’s teacher prior to intercession. We look forward to meeting with you. During this time, the State Department of Education Parent Survey information will be shared. Once received, please complete the parent survey for the high school. Your input is valued and needed. This information will also be reflected on the HS State Report Card for this year. For the senior meeting and parent conferences, please park in the student parking lot area and enter through the student parking area doors. If you have any questions, contact the main office @ (864) 443-0040. GKW

The Be Pro Be Proud truck is coming Friday, April 5th! The mission of Be Pro Be Proud SC is to showcase skilled-profession careers abundantly found in South Carolina through hands-on, interactive stations representing on-the-job experiences. The movement aims to bring a new generation of pride and professionals to the state’s skilled workforce, specifically among the student populations who are weighing their options after graduation. Students will learn that many of these skilled jobs are not only high-paying, but in demand, have long-term career prospects and are only a fraction of the cost of a 4-year degree. Inside, visitors will experience hands-on module simulators for forklift operation, commercial driving, utility bucket operation, diesel technology, heavy equipment operation, welding, carpentry and construction technology, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine operation. In addition to the hands-on simulations, visitors will walk away with training resources and what it takes to start a skilled professional career.

Congratulations to our new head softball coach, Georgia Workman. Bio: Hi, I’m Coach Georgia Workman, and I’m beyond excited to be the head softball coach at McCormick High School! I’m originally from Clover, South Carolina, where I grew up playing softball from a young age. In high school, it felt like softball was my life—I played all the time on multiple travel ball teams, constantly working to improve my game. After high school, I went on to attend Lander University, always keeping my love for the sport close to my heart. This is my second year at McCormick High, where I teach social studies. I was proud to be an assistant coach last season. I’m really looking forward to building on that experience and helping our team grow and develop. We have a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to see where things take us as we continue to mature the program. Let’s make it a great season!
