Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians/Students.
This is Gena K. Wideman, your high school principal. We are closing out the month of April, and as we all know, May is full of testing and end-of-year activities. Please see below a list of these activities. If any date should change, we will notify you as soon as possible.
Thank you to those who attended Parent University this past Thursday. It is the second largest participation for high school parents we have seen since beginning Parent University. We appreciate parents to the fullest.
With that being said, PTO is scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025 @ 5:30pm in the HS Parenting Center. Please come out and support our PTO.
If your child has not had his/her IGP meeting, make an appointment with the guidance department ASAP.
Last, but far from least, End-of-Course assessments are fast approaching. Students enrolled in English 2, Algebra 1, US History, and/or Biology will be assessed. Make sure your child is reading and studying their course notes, attending M&M time for academic support, and reaching out to his/her teacher for tutoring.

Last Friday, students in Spanish classes had the opportunity to tour over 100 countries at GLOBAL EDUCATION DAY (GED), a Columbia International Festival event that integrates fun and learning. This event offered students the opportunity to learn about the richness of the world, the ethnic diversity of South Carolina, and the positive contributions of foreign-born citizens. They had a great time!

The "Be Pro Be Proud mobile workshop visited McCormick on Friday, April 4. The bus aims to attract students and young adults to skilled trades by showcasing career opportunities through hands-on simulations and connecting them with post-secondary opportunities and employers. Students from MHS and MMS attended the mobile workshops. Thank you, Ms. Martin, District GCDF, for making sure our students were able to have this exposure.
