Good Afternoon Chiefs, This is Dr. Hembree from McCormick County School District with an important message. McCormick County School District plans to operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, Tuesday January 21st. Temperatures will be extremely cold on Tuesday morning, however, with wind chills between 10 and 15 degrees. All students are encouraged to dress in warm layers. We encourage parents of bus riders to please consider driving them to their bus stop in the morning so they may wait in a warm car. For students who are picked up at their homes, bus drivers will allow extra time for students to wait inside until their bus arrives. Please note, we are carefully monitoring the forecast for Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, and will let you know as soon as possible if we need to make any changes to Wednesday’s schedule. Thank you in advance for your attention to this message, and please stay safe and warm.

Good Evening Chiefs, This is Dr. Hembree from McCormick County School District with an important weather update. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for our area, beginning on Friday, January 10th, at 7 a.m. and lasting through Saturday, January 11th, at 7 a.m. Snow, sleet, and ice accumulations are possible for hazardous road conditions. Due to the winter storm watch that has been issued, Friday, January 10th, will be an e-learning day for all students. This means students will access lessons via their Google Classroom. Your child's school will provide additional details pertaining to e-learning assignments on Thursday. Please note that tomorrow, Thursday, January 9th, is still a regular school day.... We ask that all students bring home their Chromebooks and chargers at the end of the school day tomorrow in preparation for the e-learning day on Friday. Thank you for your attention to this essential update, and please stay safe and warm.

McCormick County School District hosted its fourth annual Leadership McCormick on Wednesday, December 4th. Nearly 30 community stakeholders were in attendance for the event. Participants had the opportunity to learn about our district initiatives, tour classrooms, and provide feedback on implementing the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. What a great day we had connecting with our community leaders! We are so grateful for the support they provide to our World-Class Chiefs.

JROTC: Historically, these coins are given as a token of appreciation, recognition, and pride for service members who have gone above and beyond their duty. Superintendent Dr. Hembree received the first coin. What a honor!

Ahead of the Thanksgiving Holiday, our Board of Trustees and Superintendent wanted to thank our staff for their hard work over the past year. For the first time since 2010, all three schools are now performing at an average report rating. Dr. Hembree presented each employee with a $500 check. "I am filled with gratitude for our entire MCSD family and their hard work, dedication, and commitment to world-class excellence! Every person in the district plays a role in student achievement, and we are incredibly proud of the tremendous strides we have made!" Dr. Hembree
