Good Afternoon Chiefs, This is Dr. Hembree from McCormick County School District with an important message. Due to the solar eclipse that is occurring on Monday, April 8th, McCormick County School District will observe an e-learning day. The eclipse, which should last several hours, is expected to occur during afternoon dismissal times, potentially posing a safety risk to both students and staff. As a result, we do not believe it is safe for school buses to be on the roads during the height of the event. On the e-learning day, students will be expected to log into their Google Classroom and work on assignments. All students, including elementary, should bring their devices and chargers home over the spring intercession to be prepared for the e-learning day. Additional details regarding student expectations will be communicated from your child’s school following this message. We appreciate your patience and understanding, as safety is always our top priority in McCormick County School District. Thank you for your attention to this message, and as always, thank you for your flexibility. Respectfully, Dr. Hembree
