McCormick Elementary School had our yearly Open House and Meet the Teacher Event on July 23, 2024. We had a wonderful turnout with over 175 parents and students attending. We were able to share important information with parents about our clear bag policy, our Title I updates, our new dress code, new colors, and many more topics to help students throughout the year.
Parents were able to meet their child's teacher during this special event. This allows parents and teachers to begin the year with positive interactions and strong home/school relations. Students and parents also enjoyed ice cream for a cool start to the new year!
On the first day of school, students were able to listen to a read-aloud of the book "The Hard Hat for Kids" by Jon Gordon. In this book, they learn 10 ways to be a better teammate. Our motto is "We Before Me." We are learning that we have to put others on our team first, so we can take care of one another and all achieve our "World Class Excellence" goal.
The 10 ways to be a better teammate are:
Always Work hard.
Give 101% Effort.
Believe in yourself and others.
Encourage others.
Value Friendships. Let others know you are there for them.
Be Optimistic in order to that you are positive and focusing on the future.
Respect your teammates and others.
Give off positive Energy to provide fuel for others.
Motivate your teammates and others to show that anything is possible.
Show Enthusiasm so it lifts you and your teammates up.
Help us at home to reiterate these 10 rules for being a better teammate.
