COVID-19 Safety Precautions in MCSD

What Safety Practices Will We Return to From Last Year?

  • Plexiglass has now been phased back into classrooms.  We will continue to leave plexiglass in common areas, such as the media centers, cafeterias, and front office areas.
  • Temperature checks will occur at each school each morning as students arrive.  Any student with a fever will be taken to the designated isolation room at each school.
  • Custodians will start spraying classrooms and facilities on a daily basis again.  This will occur at the end of the day once staff and students have departed.
  • We will transition back into breakfast and lunch in the classrooms.   This will help us to better socially distance, as well as to conduct contact tracing if needed.
  •  Seating charts will be utilized again for contact tracing purposes.  This includes regular bus routes, athletic activity routes, bus routes for dual enrollment programs, (PTC, Lander, Abbeville Career Center), and in all classroom settings.
  • Large group gatherings will be limited.
  • Virtual parent meetings/ events are being encouraged.

Students in Quarantine

  • Students who are in quarantine will still have access to their work via Google Classroom.  While elementary students do not typically carry their Chromebooks home with them this year, we are allowing this for students who are in quarantine.  Their parents will be able to pick up their Chromebook and charger from the front office.  Middle and high school students will carry Chromebooks home as usual, so students who need to quarantine should have them.

Communication to Parents/Stakeholder

  • When a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, an all-call will be sent out.
  • We will begin posting our current numbers of staff and students who are positive and in quarantine back on our district website.  We will update the information each Monday.

Lastly, we are encouraging all staff members and students to wear masks.  The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we sincerely appreciate your support of these efforts.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s school or our district office.

While our students are off campus over the next few days, please complete the following survey to notify us if your child or someone in your family has tested positive for COVID-19.

Announcement from the Abbeville Area Medical Center

Beginning the week of September 13th the drive-thru testing dates will change to Mondays/Wednesday instead of Tuesday/Thursdays as they have been.  Time will remain the same at 8am-Noon.  I have attached the September calendar as a reference.  The registration form for those that are tested at the drive thru clinic is found below.  If these are filled out in advance in can save time in the drive-thru line.  Only the yellow highlighted sections need to be completed.
